Occidental Chemical (OxyChem), a wholly owned subsidiary of Occidental Petroleum, is a chemical manufacturer with interests in basic chemicals, vinyls and performance chemicals. OxyChem is a large producer of basic chemicals, such as chlorine, polyvinyl chloride (PVC) resins, vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) and caustic soda, as well as sodium chlorite, potassium hydroxide, chlorinated isocyanurate products, calcium chloride and resorcinol. 
OxyChem's wholly owned subsidiaries include OxyVinyls, LP and INDSPEC Chemical Corporation. Armand Products Company, a joint venture between OxyChem and Church & Dwight Co., Inc., sells potassium carbonate and potassium bicarbonate. Carbocloro S.A. Indústrias Químicas, a joint venture between OxyChem and UNIPAR, manufactures and sells chlor-alkali products in Brazil.
Occidental Petroleum Corp., which is based in Los Angeles, US, is the fourth-largest US oil and gas company, based on market capitalisation.
