versalis, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Italian oil company Eni, operates in the business of olefins and aromatics, basic intermediate products, polyethylene, polystyrene and elastomers. versalis is divided into four divisions: Basic Chemicals, Polyethylene, Styrenics and Elastomers.
versalis is changing its approach to marketing on a global scale, reinforcing its competitiveness after a series of mergers aimed at optimising and developing its business. It is the result of a 'focusing process' where it claims its strength lies in the integration from raw materials to production plants, from research laboratories to technology, up to the interface with the market so it can be regarded as a single supplier with finding solutions.
versalis's research is aimed at the perfection of new high-performance product lines, the development of innovative processes and the strengthening of proprietary technologies. In order to attain these objectives, versalis makes use of a team of about 700 researchers and technologists.
