RPM | Company Structure Information from ICIS

 

RPM International with its subsidiaries specialises in specialty coatings, sealants and specialty chemicals serving both the industrial and consumer markets. It has headquarters in Medina, Ohio and employees around 10,000 people worldwide. It operates 84 manufacturing facilities in 15 countries. RPM products are sold in approximately 150 countries. It is traded on the New York stock exchange (NYSE) under the symbol RPM.

 

History

 

RPM International was founded as a holding company by Frank Sullivan in 1947.

In February 2009, RPM acquired Karochemie for an undisclosed sum. RPM said the new acquisition would be combined with its subsidiary Tremco illbruck International, which supplies sealants for windows, facades and insulating glass.

 

In April 2008, RPM acquired the Flowcrete Group, a UK company that makes resin flooring systems. Financial terms were not disclosed.

 

RPM operates through two segments, Industrial and Consumer.

 

Industrial segment

 

Its major product lines include:

(3) Exterior finishes

(4) Corrosion control

(5) Fluorescent pigments

(6) Industrial gratings

(7) Industrial sealants

 

The companies listed under the industrial segment include AD Fire Protection, Alteco Technik, Agpro, Carboline, ChemSpec, Compact Tech, Day-Glo, Dryvit, Ecoloc, Euclid Chemical, Fibregrate, Kop-Coat, NBFS, Nullifire, Pettit, Republic, RPM Belgium, StonCor Group, Stonhard, TCI, Tremco Barrier, Tremco Group, Tremco-illbruck, ValvTect, Vandex, and WTI.

 

RPM's industrial products include roofing systems, sealants, corrosion control coatings, flooring coatings and specialty chemicals. Industrial brands include Stonhard, Tremco, illbruck, Carboline, Day-Glo, Euco, Fibergrate and Dryvit. It sells its products directly to contractors, distributors, and end-users.

 

Consumer segment

 

Its major product lines include:

 

(1) Primer-sealers

(2) Specialty coatings

(3) Caulks & sealants

(4) Hobby & craft

(5) Wood stains & finishes

 

The companies listed under the consumer segment include Bondo, DAP, Flecto, Guardian, Mantrose-Haeuser, Martin Mathys, Modern Masters, New Parks, Mohawk, RPM Wood Finishes, Rust-Oleum, Rust-Oleum NL, Testors, Watco, Wolman Wood Care, and Zinsser.

 

RPM's consumer products are used by professionals and do-it-yourselfers (DIY) for home maintenance and improvement, automotive and boat repair and maintenance, and by hobbyists.

 

Consumer brands include Zinsser, Rust-Oleum, DAP, Varathane, Bondo and Testors.
