Shanghai Petrochemical Company Structure

The Shanghai Petrochemical Company (SPC) claims to be one of China's largest producers of ethylene. SPC was founded in 1972 as China's first large petrochemical company, using imported equipment and technology. Sinopec, which is controlled by the Chinese government, owns about 55% of SPC. Supported by growth and further reforms in the oil industry, China Petroleum & Chemical (Sinopec) restructured SPC in 1993 and listed it on the Shanghai, Hong Kong and New York stock markets.
