Technical Requirements

What are the technical requirements that are necessary for me to use the ICIS Excel Plug-In?

Operating System Requirements:
Windows 7/8/8.1, 32-bit and 64-bit, Requires any priority updates that Microsoft Windows Updates provides.
The Excel Plug-In is NOT compatible with MACs
Software Requirements:
Microsoft .Net Framework: .Net 4.5 Full.
MS Office 2007 or later, Professional / Business / Standard (32-bit & 64-bit) - Requires any priority updates that Microsoft Windows Updates provides.
MS Excel 2007 or later (32-bit & 64-bit).
System Configuration Requirements:
Processor = multi-core, multi-threaded CPU having clock speed > 2GHz
Memory = minimum 8GB RAM
Hard Drive space = minimum 2GB

Can I access the ICIS Excel Plug-In on a mobile device?

The plug-in is not currently available on mobile devices (smart phones or tablets) or via the Microsoft Excel mobile app, but it may have this capability in the future.

Account Administration

I forgot my password and cannot retrieve my data.

You will need to reset your password from the login dialog box.

  1. Open Excel, and select the ICIS tab.
  2. Select the Login button and the Login dialog box opens.
  3. Click on the Reset Password link.
  4. This will take you to a web page.
  5. Enter your email address and click on Submit.
  6. You will receive an email from ICIS providing a link to a secure webpage where you can reset your password.

Plug-in Configuration

My ICIS tab is no longer visible in Excel.

The ICIS Excel Plug-In has become disabled / inactive.

It can be re-enabled as follows:

  1. Click File and select Options.
  2. Select Add-ins.
  3. Click Manage and toggle to Disabled Items.
  4. Click Go.
  5. Highlight RBI.ICIS.ExcelAddIn.PlugIn and click enable


I get a System Error when trying to download data. What do I do?

MS Excel sometimes leaves 'dead' processes running in the background, and these can cause issues.

  1. Please close Excel and ensure you have no instances running.
  2. Then open the Task Manager as follows:
  3. Right-click on the taskbar, and then click Start Task Manager, OR use keyboard Shortcut - Ctrl + Shift + Esc.
  4. Once Task Manager opens, click on the Processes tab.
  5. Look for any Excel.exe processes that are still running.
  6. Select each running Excel.exe process, and select End Process: Excel.exe End process
  7. Once all Excel processes have been removed, re-open Excel and perform the same steps as before to download your data.

Why can’t I find the AppData folder where the ICIS Excel Plug-In error logs reside?

In the event of an error in the Excel Plug-In , you may be requested to attach the error logs and email them to the customer service team.

The logs are by default in a hidden folder . To view the folder please follow these steps:

  1. Click on Start > Control Panel > Appearance and Personalization > Folder Options
  2. Click the View tab
  3. Under Advanced settings, click Show hidden files and folders, and then click OK.

I clicked on Refresh and my sheet has not been updated.

There are three reasons for this:

  • The original data was downloaded for a defined date range, and the Current flag was not ticked. This means that newer data will not be downloaded onto this sheet. If Current was selected then the date range on the Excel sheet will be in red text, otherwise it will be in black text.
  • There are no changes to data within the date range selected, therefore the data remains unchanged.
  • The sheet has been moved from one workbook to another. In this instance there is an Excel limitation which prevents the properties relating to the sheet being moved across, and therefore it cannot be refreshed.
