ICIS has produced a special digital version of The Fertilizer Institute’s Annual Report 2014, featuring video interviews with key personnel that look at the achievements over the past year. The report looks at how TFI is working to better serve its members and the industry, including the launch of the ResponsibleAg initiative, the importance of 4R Nutrient Stewardship, and how the association’s new strategic plan is focusing on membership, sustainability and stewardship and advocacy.
A four-page special report and microsite highlighted the work of AIG’s Environmental insurance business and how its team supports chemical distributors during claims. The articles considered the pressures facing the industry and why comprehensive insurance protection is becoming increasingly important. The supplement also focused on the services offered to its policyholders, including its popular PIER emergency response program.
This 16-page special and accompanying roundtable event focused on the enormous potential of Scotland’s chemical sector. The supplement showcased the work of Chemical Sciences Scotland and how industry, government and academia is working together to secure the sector’s future. Topics discussed include the importance of the Grangemouth site and infrastructure, the development of a strong talent base and the initiatives that are helping to promote industrial biotechnology in the country.
The hot topics of shale gas and sustainability were the key issues addressed in the NPE supplement, an 8-page special published in November 2014. Articles looked at the prospects for the plastics industry given the development of US shale, the new technologies being employed in the construction and automotive sectors, and the solutions that are being introduced in packaging to address many of the world’s major challenges.
A special four-page supplement focused on the rapid growth of Brazil’s distribution sector, the investment in the country, its successes and prospects. Articles focus on the main issues facing the market and the implications of shale gas and new production capacities planned in the US.
Bayer MaterialScience and Solvay collaborated with other partners on a project to design and build a solar airplane capable of flying around the globe, powered only by the sun. Their achievement was the theme of an eight-page gatefold supplement, which highlighted the importance of renewable fuels and sustainability, and the innovative products that were used for the challenge.
A four-page special report and microsite focused on distributor U.S. Chemicals, considered the opportunities in the US market and how the company was hoping to grow. Featuring interviews with executives and a map highlighting its many offices and warehouses, the supplement also looked at how the business was embracing sustainability and the environment
Versalis’ ambitious restructuring plans are now well underway and ICIS wrote an eight-page supplement to highlight their challenges and achievements. Featuring interviews with the CEO and key personnel, the articles looked at the producer’s efforts to improve its competitiveness and efficiency, and its plans for the future.
The US oil and chemical major needed editorial content in print and online for the official opening of its new Singapore cracker complex, and for subsequent trade exhibitions in China. ICIS interviewed four key board members and wrote and produced an eight-page gatefold and online microsite with added video content.
LANXESS subsidiary and custom synthesis specialist, Saltigo, is preparing for future growth through targeted investment and the development of more sophisticated formulations and active ingredients. ICIS wrote an eight-page supplement to highlight the potential of the agrochemical market and outline the strategy for the business. A microsite was also created, incorporating video footage and relevant weblinks.
The Russian major commissioned a 16-page special supplement to coincide with the completion of its landmark polypropylene project. Articles included interviews with key executives about SIBUR's ambitions, as well as a focus on each of the company's major investment projects.
This leading inward investment agency in the northeast UK asked ICIS to produce a 12-page content editorial piece which appeared in the issue of ICIS Chemical Business that also contained the official EPCA petrochemicals supplement - thus achieving wide and relevant readership. Tees Valley and partner Nepic provide the editorial copy and ICIS the design, layout and production expertise.

We would use existing video and written articles as well as creating new content based in interviews with key personnel. Use ICIS audience to promote and publicise Lanxess Green Mobility, highlight the importance of the new iPad App and showcase Lanxess’s innovation in Rubber technology and the future impact this has on the industry. ICIS created two separate 2 page editorial features, a microsite with a competition to win an iPad, ICIS also created a separate competition entry form which was run as a bound insert in ICIS Chemical Business magazine and taken to trade events and promoted on the ICIS stand. The content in the microsite was also promoted through our e-newsletters and banners on www.icis.com.
Global chemical distribution major Brenntag asked ICIS to write and produce an internal and external communication publication that highlighted its global reach, but local expertise; and its focus on speciality chemicals distribution and green chemicals expertise. The 8-page publication was written by ICIS editors in Singapore, the UK and the US, and featured interviews with regional Brenntag managers and the CEO, Steve Holland. The publication was included in ICIS Chemical Business and a e-version was sent to all ICIS newsletter recipients. The client took 1000 print copies for internal and customer use.
The resurgence of the automotive sector and heightened interest in efficiency and sustainability were the main messages Germany’s Lanxess wanted to convey in the supplement. An eight-page gatefold featured interviews with key staff, including the CEO, and showcased many of the producer’s projects and products. A large cutaway graphic of a car on the centre pages showed the exterior and interior of a vehicle and how Lanxess products are used in the automotive sector. This was promoted on www.icis.com and printed as a standalone supplement for distribution at upcoming events.
An eight-page gatefold supplement was commissioned by Bayer MaterialScience to promote its work on the Solar Impulse project – which saw a solar-powered aircraft built that would showcase new technologies. A giant graphic of the aircraft across the four open pages of the gatefold showed the various parts of the plane and how the innovative products were employed. This was produced as a standalone supplement and promoted on www.icis.com.
Bayer MaterialScience commissioned ICIS to run an eight-page gatefold to outline its EcoCommercial Building program, improving efficiency in the construction sector. The company had undertaken work in various regions worldwide to construct buildings suited to the various environments, making best use of available products and promoting sustainability. The gatefold highlighted their efforts at a kindergarden in Germany – a large graphic of the building showing key installations both inside and outside the building. This was produced as a standalone supplement and also promoted on www.icis.com.
Work with management of Polimeri Europa to publicise the company’s new business strategy and rebranding as Versalis. Interviewing the CEO and business heads, ICIS created an eight-page gatefold supplement to highlight the company’s plans and projects. The supplement was used by Versalis to publicise its relaunch and was promoted through www.icis.com and by the company at various events globally.
