Biogas and energy from chicken waste

Here's how one chicken farmer intends to use the waste from his chickens and natural sunlight to produce methane and biofuel goodies. Is it the world's first as the article in the hattiesburgamerican.com website claims? I seem to remember something similar being tried in Norfolk, near London a year or ten ago...
