US presidential race: Green Bidding war No1 Vilsack

As the race to become the next President of the US gets going, one of the campaign themes is likely to be who's the greenest. Tom Vilsack, an ex-Governor of Iowa and described by the Des Moines Register as an "outsider" presidential candidate today in San Francisco called for a combination of the Manhattan project and the space race to get cellulosic ethanol off the ground big style...

"The only way we can produce enough renewable fuel domestically is if we greatly improve the technology to create cellulosic ethanol"

He's got lots of sensible stuff to say about conservation. But cellulose had better deliver big style, not for him Bush's puny 35m gallons of renewable fuels he wants to

Set goals of using 60 million gallons of renewable fuel and making new vehicles 50 percent more fuel efficient, by 2030.

if you hear of any other candidates propose more than 60m gallons of renewables let me know. I feel a league table coming on.
