Ethanol powered air-con-in-a-can

Over on Ubergizmo, they're disucssing a product that could be going well in as the northern summer begins early. Ethanol powered, air-con-in-a-can.

Yes the product is based around the idea that you spray flammable ethanol onto your clothes.... suitable only for non-smoking office workers who aren't wearing synthetic fabrics, but there might be a niche for 'organic' versions of this if it can be flame retarded.

Hattip to Tokyomango.

Isn't this going to have negative VOCs environmental impacts?!? I know this is a consumer product and even though ethanol is a renewable resource I'm thinking that this may not be a great idea from a life cycle perspective. But also in light of recent details (for the automotive use of ethanol) - supposedly casing a potential increase in Ozone levels and ethanal amongst others in the north east of the USA.

Also,
q.v. the paint industry targets on VOC development.

I can't see this getting a license personally. Not unless the full life-cycle of the materials used are properly known and the environmental impacts negated.
