Here are some of the new green chemicals introduced in November. I'm predicting a lot more of these new "green" alternatives will come out next year...
1. Ticona's green flame retardant - Ticona Engineering Polymers launched its halogen-free enhanced Celanex® 6842 flame retardant series with improved processability and equivalent properties that give designers and manufacturers a "drop-in" option for use in eco-friendly electrical and electronic components.
2. ICL reduces mercury emissions - ICL Industrial Products launched its Merquel(TM) inorganic bromides product line for reduction of mercury emissions from coal fired power plants, kilns and incinerators.
3. Millipore's first bioplastic - Lifescience company Millipore unveiled its first biodegradable and compostable product, the EcoStand tube holder, made from environmentally responsible bio-based plastic resin.
4. Chevron Phillips' low chlorine resin - Chevron Phillips Chemical Company's Engineering Polymers group has introduced two new Ryton® polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) resin grades with chlorine content of less than 900 parts per million in anticipation of low halogen content standards for the electronics industry.
5. Celanese eco-friendly paints - Celanese Emulsion Polymers introduced EcoVAE™ emulsions for low odor, low VOC interior decorative paints to the Asian region.
6. Cognis green defoamer - Cognis introduced to the European market its Dehydran SE 1, a high-performing, green alternative to mineral oil-based defoamers for high PVC water-based paints.
