India’s jet-set private planes impounded

MukeshAmbani, chief managing director of India‘s Reliance Industries, hashad two of his executive jets impounded by Indian customs officers ininvestigations into unpaid tax on these and other luxury aircraft belonging tothe country’s super-rich, according to an article in TimesOnline.




At leastten aircraft have been impounded in the past two weeks and hundreds more arebeing looked into. There is speculation that one of the jets is the $59 millionAirbus A-319 which was a birthday gift for Mr Ambani’s wife Neeta on her 44thbirthday last year, an event which was widely covered by envious bloggers atthe time.
