Stop Oil Speculation

SAN ANTONIO (Chemicals Confidential)–Picking up the March issue of Continental Airlines in-flight magazine on the flight from Houston on Friday, I read a column entitled “Stop Oil Speculation” written by the Air Transport Association.


The association is complaining that despite low oil demand and huge over-supply, prices are continuing to rise due to “the return of massive speculative investment in oil markets … The volume of oil traded on paper being as high as 22 times greater than the volume of oil consumed.” It calls on the US Congress to re-establish strict position limits on energy commodities, and encourages Texan fliers to visit
