Special K: The Blog visits Duesseldorf

It's K 2007 time, the massive three-yearly plastics fair in Duesseldorf. My colleague Linda calls from the ICIS stand in Hall 9a to tell me that every hotel room in a 100 km (62 mile) radius of Duesseldorf is booked out, city rooms are going for exorbitant prices and taxi drivers are a rare commodity. She was lucky to get there at all this morning after being trapped in the feeder tunnel at Heathrow behind a broken down car.

The K fair lasts eight days, 24-31 October, and spreads over 17 giant halls. There are 2,914 exhibitors from 52 countries, and 230,978 visitors. It's so huge that they need moving walkways to help the fair's visitors cover the necessary ground.

And in Special K Entertainment News: Guests at the Dow party at K, where Rod Stewart entertained the guests, reported that his voice gave out after the first three songs, and he had to whisper the rest.

Sounds like Linda was lucky with Rod's voice giving out like that...
