Bad press for techies

So it’s official: techies are out of shape and never take any exercise. Our techie colleagues on this Electronics Weekly blog have come across a medical report released today which says that the technology and IT sectors have an “unappetising set of diet and lifestyle statistics”.

I can speak as an honorary techie, after I took part in last year’s techie pre-NPRA (National Petrochemical and Refiners’ Association conference) roadtrip from Houston to San Antonio, together with George, Simon and Richard as the advance party to set up the very hi-tech ICIS hospitality suite and newsroom at the conference.

It gave me the opportunity to sample some of the techie “diet and lifestyle”, and I can confirm that it has a lot to commend it. The roadtrip featured a very comfy SUV (sports utility vehicle), bags of beef jerky, a spot of outlet shopping, followed by a full-strength night on the Riverwalk in San Antonio, all entailing some not inconsiderable exercise. Unappetising it wasn't.
