Artenius UK PTA closure - redundancies

| 1 Comment | No TrackBacks

A poignant farewell email from one of the many former employees of Artenius UK's PTA business was waiting in the Blog inbox on my return from a few days away.

It said ..."Of the 240 people employed by Artenius UK, those involved in the PET business face an uncertain 2 weeks keeping things going whilst the Administrator seeks a buyer. The 137 dedicated to PTA were made redundant yesterday (29 July 2009)."

"... Administration is a brutally abrupt end to a career. There are no farewell dinners or expressions of gratitude, just the exit door."

I feel particularly depressed and upset since one of my early jobs involved selling ICI PTA. I always felt a closeness to Wilton and people who work at Teesside. It is a pity and a shame that this has happened. "Brutal" is probably a good way to describe it and I feel for every one there.
