Thousands
of starlings and grackles are gathering every evening in the trees along
Westheimer and around the Galleria in Houston,
the Blog was startled to see and hear on a recent visit. The noise is
incredibly loud, even over the normal roar of the traffic. The black birds wheel across the sky in great
dark clouds, and perch along the overhead cables in dense concentrations
reminiscent of Hitchcock's film "The Birds."
For
a close-up photo of a grackle, see the Houston Chronicle.
