Acrylonitrile butadiene rubber-Nitrile rubber Overview Transcript
Acrylonitrile butadiene rubber or NBR in short, is a synthetic rubber that is traded in Asia. It is used primarily in the production of car parts such as gaskets, grommets, and oil seals for the automotive industry. It is also used in the footwear industry.
The major producers of NBR are based in North East Asia in Japan, South Korea and China. Although China is a major producer of NBR it also imports NBR from all over the world including Russia and Latin America.
The NBR prices are determined to a large extent by the raw material costs. Raw materials are acrylonitrile and butadiene. These are the major drivers of the NBR price, though demand, to a large extent also plays a major issue in the determination of the price.
