Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene US Transcript
ICIS report for US Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene, or ABS, covers domestic prices for medium and high grade injection material and medium and high grade extrusion material.
Domestic prices are set by contract negotiations between producers, sellers, distributors, and buyers, taking into account that discounts generally offered depending on the order size.
There are no predetermined contract settlement dates and the ICIS report reflects the fluidity of price movements which often respond to feed stock prices.
The US assessed prices are gathered by talking to major North American producers, distributors and buyers and inputting the data into the report. The report is essential to our customers as it offers subscribers the most recent and detailed information in the ABS market, price increase nominations or decreases and supply and demand patterns.

Updated to Q2 2014
US acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) prices remained flat through the second quarter amid relatively balanced market fundamentals.
For the most part, US ABS suppliers said they had a solid-to-strong second quarter, although some attributed the demand uptick to the catching-up period following a weaker-than-expected first quarter because of the harsh winter weather.
At the same time, the downstream automotive sector continued to be strong, and the downstream housing industry was mixed but showing signs of improvement. Downstream demand for consumer products was viewed as relatively steady.
Meanwhile, the market was seeing softening prices for raw materials, which was prompting some distributors and buyers to request price reductions.
However, producers had said they would hold on to prices for as long as they can, citing continued squeezed margins as previous cost increases were not completely passed on to customers during the first quarter.
