Acrylonitrile Asia Transcript
The acrylonitrile or ACN report is a weekly report. It tracks all the spot transactions in China and India. Both China and India are major consumers of ACN. We speak to the producers as well as traders. Traders play an important ACN market. Traders bring in deep-sea cargoes from the US Gulf and Europe.
These prices would tend to impact on the Asian contract pricing. In this case we are very up to date with the latest information on all the spot transactions that are concluded in Asia.
It is an important market as it goes into the downstream acrylic fibre and the acrylonitrile butadiene styrene markets.
We provide the latest information including the plant shutdowns, and outages as well as new plant start ups. All this impacts on supply and supply demand are major issues that help determine the ACN price. They will help you to make your decisions when you buy our sell ACN.

Updated to Q1 2016
Asia’s acrylonitrile (ACN) prices fell from the beginning of the year to early March because of falling feedstock costs and the influx of deep-sea cargoes.
New capacity in China also dampened buying interest for import cargoes. Oversupply and weak demand dragged down ACN prices to $900/tonne CFR NE Asia on 4 March. The market bottomed out because of rising feedstock costs and improved demand from the acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) and acrylic fibre sectors. Supply was reduced as some Chinese producers cut operating rate to mitigate losses. ACN was $935/tonne CFR NE Asia in late March.
