Butyl Acetate Asia Transcript
ICIS publishes a weekly Butyl Acetate, or ButAc pricing report in Asia.
The report provides two regional quotes namely, CFR South East Asia and CFR China main ports.
Our comprehensive price assessments are based on bulk shipments ranging from 100-500 tons and deals for drummed and iso-tank cargos are also included.
When assessing prices, we also take into consideration upstream prices and the supply situation. Plant operating rates and downstream derivative demand are also taken into account. We report on market activity throughout the week and also provide regular information on plant turn-arounds and outages which can affect the market.
The important Korea, Taiwan and China domestic price information is also covered as there are only a few large producers supplying ButAc into Asia.
ButAc producers, consumers and distributers in Asia contribute to and find our report essential for them to make important business decisions and formulate their monthly settlement prices.

Updated to Q4 2015
Butyl Acetate (Butac) spot prices extended losses into the fourth quarter of the year, as demand continued to soften and falling raw material values exerted downward pressure on butac prices. Production cuts continued to take place in key market China, but were unable to halt the downtrend, as bearish macroeconomic conditions drove the price direction south.
Average weekly spot prices of Butac stood at $635/tonne FOB NE Asia in mid-December, as compared to $760/tonne FOB NE Asia in early October, a drop of around 14%.
Trade activity was slowed by the year end lull period as buyers were looking to reduce inventory levels ahead of the year end, market sources said. Meanwhile, sellers were facing increasing inventory pressure, resulting in marked down prices, as some sellers sought to boost sales volume.
