butyl acete US Transcript
The ICIS weekly USA butyl acetate report provides three different prices for butac, all quoated in cents per pound and converted into dollars per ton.
The report lists a monthly contract price, a distributor price for material delivered before discount based on values in the US Northeast and mid-west. And a spot export price out of the US Gulf that is mainly sent to Latin America.
The three prices listed in the report change fairly often, sometimes monthly, but the key value tends to be the distributor price because Butac is moved largely by distributors.
The report offers distributors and manufacturers a way to keep tabs on prices for this niche product. It also includes monthly US trade data. We obtain our data from buyers and sellers and analyse this to create accurate reports that are necessary for our customers. Our report is timely, analytical and an excellent source of information for our customers in the paint, inks and coatings and fragrance industries.

Updated to Q3 2014
The US butyl acetate (butac) market in the third quarter saw prices increase. Increased demand from the paints and coatings sector and tight supply appeared to put pressure on market participants.
Several US butac suppliers sought increases for the quarter. According to sources, those increases were only partially accepted in the market.
In addition, US supplier Oxea declared a force majeure at its Bay City, Texas oxo intermediates plant. That further tightened butac supply.
Meanwhile, BUTAC exports were down 28% from the same month last year, according to data made available by the US International Trade Commission (ITC).
July BUTAC exports to Mexico, the US's largest market, were down 16%; second-largest Canada saw a 13% drop; Argentina was down 57%; Brazil was off 92%; and Venezuela was down 86%.
As the fourth quarter begins, indications are that butac supply is starting to improve. That, sources say, could help stabilise prices heading towards the end of the year.
