Consultation

ICIS is implementing a process of rolling consultation on all of its methodologies. This consultation paper is part of this formal process and covers all of the ICIS primary price points included in the polyethylene weekly publications.

The consultation asks both general questions about the suitability of the ICIS methodology and questions addressing specific polyethylene market issues.

ICIS Summary and Decision

There was one confidential response to consultation GMC 08/16. This respondent requested more detail about the sources that ICIS consults to gather its information, with a breakdown of sources between traders, processors, producers and distributors. She also wanted to know whether the same sources were called each week.

In addition, she wanted the US report to include the following divisions for LDPE: LDPE autoclave and LDPE tubular; also EVA in the US. And also in the US polyethylene report section for LLDPE: LLDPE hexene, butene, metalocene and octene.

These issues will be addressed separately in editorial correspondence.

ICIS will not be proposing any immediate changes to the methodology of the polyethylene report. Any decision to change this methodology will be communicated to subscribers using the usual channels and with the usual notice period.

ICIS continues to welcome any feedback on its polyethylene methodology outside of the formal consultation process.
