Gas China Transcript
China Gas Markets is a weekly English-language report, which is a must-have for companies active within the Chinese domestic market but also companies trading in gas globally.
Chinese demand for other commodities like steel oil, coal, has already radically altered global trade and global pricing. As the gas market is already globalised and is projected to grow extremely strongly over the near- to mid-term you can expect that the same is going to happen to gas.
What China Gas Markets does is ensure that the global gas trader isn’t taken by surprise by any developments on this market.
What it does is actually give the international audience detail on both the domestic supply-demand picture, domestic pricing of gas and LNG both on the traded market but also the all-important government regulated pricing. And it keeps you up to date with market intelligence from this area.

The supply and demand of natural gas in China is fairly balanced in Q3. According to statistics from China’s General Administration of custom, China imported 4.6m tonnes of liquefied natural gas (LNG) and 5.8m tonnes pipeline gas from July to September.
In private enterprise, Jovo received its first import LNG cargo from PETRONAS in September, and plans to receive another one in the first half of November. In the meantime, CNOOC’s Zhuhai Jinwan LNG terminal received its first commissioning cargo in October.
Domestic LNG market was flat. The average operation rate of domestic LNG plants was 60% between mid-Aug and mid-November. During this period, demand for LNG was low because of Chinese’s National holiday in October. However, many domestic LNG raised their wholesale prices because of the expectation of a winter supply shortage.
ICIS C1’s delivered assessments for LNG by truck price in coastal China rose by yuan (CNY) 308/tonne to CNY5,898/tonne between mid-August and mid-November.
