Updated to Q2 2014
Chinese LPG price went down during the second quarter due to the oversupply and weak demand in the domestic market. It is almost summer, leading to a fall in demand.
Importers secured large volumes of cargoes for second quarter delivery, 731,000 tonnes in April and 742,000 tonnes in May, respectively. There was maintenance at refineries during the beginning of April so importers brought more LPG to cover. But demand was weak and it created oversupply in the market.
LPG prices are expected to go up in the third quarter of 2014 as importers will not bring as much into the market and but demand will go up from the deep processing plants.
