China’s petroleum market was weak since end-February with high inventories and weak demand. Prices of most petroleum products fell, with market participants holding bearish sentiment.
Crude throughput in China stood at a historical high during January and February, However, as more major refineries such as Guangxi Petrochemical, Jinan Refinery and Dalian Petrochemical, began their turnaround schedule from early March, the crude throughput in China fell.
China’s gasoil market was plagued by oversupply in most days so far this year because of a slowdown in the country’s economy. End-user demand remained sluggish amid relatively subdued activity in the industrial, construction, logistics and transportation sectors.
China’s gasoline prices went up in the second half of February amid good demand, but lost the gains in the following two and a half months because of lacklustre demand and losses in international crude benchmarks.
