German Heren January power index climbs to EUR 37.28/MWh

31 Dec 2003 00:00:00

The January ’04 German power monthly Heren index stands at EUR 37.28/MWh, the second highest level for the reference price since its inception in July 2001, after the September ‘03 price of EUR 37.49/

MWh. It is up from the December ’03 index of EUR 36.64/MWh and a substantial increase from the January ’03 index of EUR 29.13/MWh.

The Heren German index was calculated using the 66 January ’04 deals reported to The Heren Report during the calendar month of December ’03, with deals struck between EUR 36.00/MWh and EUR 40.50/MWh.

The volume of trading activity reported during the month of December for January — i.e. the trades used to calculate the index — amounted to 1,675 MW.

The German Heren monthly power index is a volume-weighted average of forward month trades done in the previous month. Thus, for the January ‘04 Index, only complete January ’04 Baseload deals which took place in the period 1st – 31st December were eligible.
