Hydro awards lucrative contract at Ormen Lange

26 May 2004 00:00:00

Norsk Hydro, operator of the giant Ormen Lange field being developed on the Norwegian Continental shelf, has awarded a NOK 300 million (EUR 36.45 million) contract to Stolt Offshore for pipelines to the Nyhamna processing plant, Hydro said on Wednesday. The two six inch Mono Ethylene Glycol (MEG) pipelines will run from the gas processing plant being developed at Nyhamna on the west coast of Norway to Ormen Lange, over a distance of 125 km. A third infield pipeline will be laid over 3.6 km. The pipelines are to be laid in 2006 before Ormen Lange comes online in October 2007. Gas will be transported from Ormen Lange to the Nyhamna processing plant and from there through the Langeled pipeline to Easington in the UK.
