Yukos faces bankruptcy over huge tax bill
Russian oil company Yukos, under fire from the government, says that a 99 billion roubles (£1.9 billion) tax bill could send it into bankruptcy this year. The government would take control of the business in such an event.
Critics allege that Yukos and its former company president Mikhail Khodorkovsky — currently on trial for fraud and tax evasion charges — are being “punished” for funding political parties opposed to president Putin.
