Swiss reservoirs fall to 11.3% fullness in Week 17

26 Apr 2005 00:00:00

Swiss hydropower reservoir levels decreased by 1.4 percentage points last week to 11.3% fullness, according to data from the country’s federal energy office, the BFE.

Levels during Week 17 (18th April – 25th April) were down by 4.5 percentage points on the same week in 2004.

The Week 17 figure represents an estimated hydropower reservoir capacity of 965 GWh. The recent continued low hydro capacity in the Alpine region, which relies heavily on hydropower for its electricity generation, remains one of the main bullish factors attributed to the resilience in German and continental spot prices. Swiss Day-ahead levels for Baseload contracts are currently trading on a par with French

and German products at around EUR 43.75/MWh. KT
