Slovenia’s hydro generation increases in H1

Generation from Slovenia’s 19 hydropower plants increased by 40% year-on-year for the first half of 2006, reaching 1.785 TWh. However, output from four thermal plants and the country’s nuclear plant Krsko (shared with Croatia) fell by 13% to 4.615 TWh, according to figures from grid operator Eles reported by local newswires. Generation for H1’06 rose by 1.04% year-on-year.

Consumption for the period rose 3.4% year-on-year for the first half of 2006 to 6.55 TWh. Eles expects consumption to increase between 1% and 2.5% annually to 2008. ZD
