Talisman boosts Rev field reserves to 5 Gm3

27 Feb 2007 00:00:00

Talisman Energy has discovered additional reserves at the Rev field (production licence 038 C), 6 km south of the Varg Field in the Norwegian southern North Sea.

The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) estimates additional resources of around 1.1 billion cubic metres (Gm3) of recoverable gas. Total recoverable resources for Rev, situated east of the Armada complex, now amount to around 5 Gm3 gas and 0.8 million cubic metres of condensate.

“The well will be temporarily plugged and abandoned for later use as a potential producer,” the NPD said in a statement.

Talisman has applied to the UK’s Department of Trade and Industry for “authorisation for the construction and use of a system of pipelines in the Rev development area of the North Sea.” Gas from Rev is likely to be exported into the UK through the CATS pipeline into Teesside.

Rev’s stakeholders are Talisman Energy Norge (70%) and Petoro (30%). BF
