New Values/OEKV deal

27 Feb 2007 00:00:00

New Values, the Dutch-based CO2 exchange, is seeking new alliances with industry associations following a deal struck with Austrian association OEKV. The two parties recently signed an agreement, which was announced on Tuesday but first revealed at an industry conference last week. OEKV represents over 400 companies in Austria, one of the few countries short in CO2 in 2005. OEKV members will now get a discount on their trading fees. “We expect our members to become more active in the second period of the ETS because they will find they have shortages ,” chairman of OEKV Franz Urban said. New Values is part of the Climex Alliance, a pan-European carbon trading platform. A spokeswoman from New Values said they would seek to establish similar partnerships in the future.
