Austria’s EVN posts higher power and lower gas sales
Austrian utility EVN has posted stronger power sales, but lower gas sales in the first three quarters of its financial year 2006/2007. In a letter to shareholders, EVN said on Tuesday it sold 13,913 GWh of electricity and 467 million cubic metres of gas to end customers. Compared with the year-earlier period, power sales were up by 20.7%, while gas sales dropped by 28.3% on the back of a mild winter.
EVN’s operating result was down by 6% and amounted to EUR 186.9 million. At the same time, revenue climbed by 6.5% to EUR 1.7 billion. The main reason for the increase in revenue is the first-time integration of EVN’s Macedonian subsidiary ESM for the entire financial year.
For the whole of 2006/2007, EVN expects a slight decrease in operating profits. This is not only due to mild temperatures last winter, but also to cuts in proposed tariffs for access to EVN’s networks announced by the Austrian regulator e-control at the beginning of 2007. KTV
