NorNed interconnector back in action on Wednesday

24 Feb 2009 00:00:00

The 700MW NorNed interconnector will be back in action from 25 February, according to Norwegian grid operator Statnett. A capacity auction to send power across the cable was held on Tuesday.

The electricity cable, which links the Norwegian and Dutch markets, has been out of action since 6 February (see EDEM 13.033) due to an unexpected fault at the Eemshaven converter station in the Netherlands.

The start-up was in line with market expectations, as Dutch Week 8 contracts had moved downwards by last Friday as traders anticipated that Norwegian power flows would be resumed.
