Lithuanian PM snubs Russian nuke offer

Lithuanian Prime Minister Andrius Kubilius has rejected Russia's proposal to take part in the nuclear power plant it is constructing in Kaliningrad.

According to local media, Kubilius told Putin on Friday that Lithuania was focused on building the Visaginas nuclear power plant in the east of the country.

"Our main objective is the creation of Baltic electricity market and its integration into the European electricity system. In order to pursue these goals, we started implementing the third EU energy package and the principle of ownership separation both in the fields of energy and gas provided in it," said Kubilius.
