Ukraine to cut off supplies to Poland
Ukraine's state-controlled oil and gas company Naftogaz will halt all gas exports to Polish incumbent PGNiG via the Hrubieszow delivery point as of 1 January, PGNiG said on Thursday.
According to PGNiG, Naftogaz will interrupt the supplies due to a change in Ukraine's legislation, which requires entire domestic production to go towards covering domestic demand. PGNiG said the cut-off will not affect its customers. The Polish incumbent also said it will demand that the Ukrainian company honours its existing agreement valid until 2020.
The agreement between PGNiG and Naftogaz calls for supplies of about 9 million cubic metres of gas per year. A similar cut-off happened in September but supplies were restored in October.
