23 Apr 2012 17:40:14 | edcm

Issuance figures for certified emission reductions (CERs) dived 60% week on week to 4.8m during week 16, falling from 2012's high of 12m recorded in week 15.

Week 16's figures are 1.1m lower than the year-to-date average of 5.9m.

According to Friday's ICIS assessment, the over-the-counter spot CER contract closed at €4.05/tonnes of CO2 equivalent (tCO2e), putting the value of week 16's issuance just above €19.4m.

An Indonesian initiative, using a 121MW geothermal power plant to generate emission reductions, received the greatest number of CERs last week - 0.9m, or 18.8% of the weekly total. The UN lists Chevron Geothermal Indonesia and PT Darajat Geothermal Indonesia as project owners. CR
