Carbon market snapshot

01 May 2012 17:24:38 | edcm

Carbon prices closed flat on Tuesday, as a public holiday in mainland Europe kept many market participants away from their desks.

"People have not done much today," one source said, "so we're still around yesterday's closing prices." Only the December 2012 contracts moved marginally.

Prices are expected to move tomorrow, as traders and liquidity return to the market and EU data is released that sheds light on how many EUAs and CERs were surrendered for compliance in 2011 (see separate story). "The data probably will have an impact, as it will give insight on how many CERs people have been using," the source said.
