APX-ENDEX 2011 TTF natural gas trades up but way below OTC

Volumes of TTF natural gas futures contracts traded on the APX-ENDEX exchange stood at 238TWh in 2011, 100% higher year on year, the company said on Thursday in its annual results.

But despite the increase, the figure is still far lower than corresponding over-the-counter (OTC) volumes, which in 2011 stood at 5,629TWh, according to ICIS data.

Also, an additional 95TWh were registered for clearing, the company said.

The company's TTF spot market saw a total of 12.4TWh traded in 2011, over 100% higher year on year. Of these, 11.9TWh was on the Day-Ahead, which compares with 156TWh OTC, according to ICIS data.

Total energy volumes traded were 25% higher year on year at 592TWh. This boosted the company's operating result to €5.6m in 2011, up from €3.8m in 2010.
