RR: Iberdrola to upgrade UK's oldest wind electricity farm

04 May 2012 16:27:42 | edem

Spanish utility Iberdrola is to upgrade its Carland Cross wind farm in southwestern England to 20MW from its present electricity capacity of 6MW.

The wind farm will be disconnected from the grid in the coming weeks and aims to be reconnected by the end of the year, once the works have been completed.

Another Spanish company, Gamesa, has been selected to supply 10 x 2MW wind turbines to replace the present 15 turbines, each with a capacity of 0.4MW.

Carland Cross began operating 20 years ago, making it the UK's oldest wind farm.
