Total successfully plugs Elgin/Franklin natural gas leak

16 May 2012 13:54:38 | esgm

France's Total confirmed on Wednesday that it had stopped the gas leak at its North Sea Elgin complex.

The well-intervention operation began on 15 May and the leak was stopped 12 hours after the operation started. In the coming days, Total will monitor the well to confirm that the intervention has been successful.

Earlier in the week, Total said it was aiming to gradually restart production from the field by the end of the year if weather conditions are favourable (see ESGM 14 May 2012).
