Romania’s cogeneration and electricity export fees to go up – traders

28 Jun 2012 14:11:26 | edem

Romania's cogeneration electricity tax has increased by New Lei 2.70/MWh (€0.60/MWh), bringing the country's so-called export tax to an average New Lei 40.00/MWh, trading sources said.

The actual cogeneration tax is now understood to be New Lei 21.20/MWh.

Romanian energy regulator ANRE could not confirm the increase on Thursday, but Ion Lungu, president of the Association of Electricity Suppliers in Romania, said the increase should be made public in the Official Gazette within coming days.

Romania operates a series of levies on cogeneration and transmission that effectively act as an export tax paid on electricity sold abroad.
