Does anybody know, is this deal going to strengthen Dow, or will it be a step too far with its other commitments around the world?

I think it's a brilliant move. A little expensive on the front end by strong synergies to result. Rohm & Haas has a great reputation for quality products. A jewel in Dow's crown imho.
