As the refinery and petrochemical plants return to normal operations at Grangemouth, it'll be interesting to see how much has been achieved by the 48-hour strike which brought the industry - and the INEOS name - to the forefront of national publicity in the UK. The move away from final salary pension schemes is a big issue in the UK: what's the situation elsewhere?

INEOS says the Grangemouth site should reach full output by 18 May now that the strike it over...

So what was the result?

Have INEOS capitulated?

No they've not capitulated, but the two sides are expected to start talking in the next couple of days. According to an ICIS news report yesterday Grangemouth should be back at full output on18 May (subscription to ICIS needed)  

Looks like a climbdown?

 'It is understood Ineos has withdrawn, for now, plans to close its final salary pension scheme for new employees'
