  • A new member of the ICIS REACH Group

I was surprised and delighted when MarkR , joined ICIS Connect and became a member of our ICIS REACH group. Mark is the first consultant to take the plunge and become a commenting member. He's got some wise words to say on the cost involved in the process of registering substances for REACH . I've known mark, in the internet sense of knowing

  • Re: How much will it cost?

Hi Mark, Thanks for the pointers about Submission Fees and the cost of getting the data needed for a registration. I think I've found the CEFIC SIEFs document you were talking about . Is this the one?

  • Interagency Testing Committee

I wonder what's going to happen to the Interagency Testing Committee for TSCA when it's redrawn. Do we know how many people are employed in this kind of work in the US and what its budget is.

  • Re: ECHA has details of just 2,025 SIEFs

Looks like a fiasco in the making here doesn't it? If you're involved in a SIEF then it might be a good idea to make sure that your lead registrant has told ECHA that it exists. Nigel, is it really the case that if you're in a SIEF and not registered with ECHA you could find it impossible to sell more than 1000 tonnes of your chemical across

  • Making things simpler

I've been listening to our users and have modified ICIS Connect to make it easier to use and to shape it more towards what's being used and what isn't. I've been getting quite a bit of feed back from users having difficulty in differentiating between Forums and Groups. So I've closed a number of forums that were getting very little

  • Re: TSCA

[quote user="JoeKamalick"] Senator Frank Lautenberg (Democrat-New Jersey), whose subcommittee has jurisdiction over TSCA, is expected to re-introduce his "Kid-Safe Chemicals Act" perhaps before the end of this year if the TSCA reform drive gets started in Congress in what remains of this session's calendar. That legislation essentially

  • Re: REACH to be discussed at the 14th ICIS World Base Oils conference, 2010

Hi Heather, I guess this shows some of the breadth of REACH, it wouldn't be apparent to me if I were making lubricating oils that they could count as a chemical under REACH. Thanks for the tip off.

  • TSCA vs REACH

I was wondering just how much like REACH the reformed TSCA is going to look like? I think risk is a much bigger part of US thinking rather than in the EU but what if the Inherently Safer Technology ideas get rolled into TSCA that could be bad for the industry, right?

  • Groups of common interest.

ICIS launched its Connect product a couple of years ago and we've been looking at how to get the best out of it. Our latest idea is to tailor our efforts into areas of common interest around issues that will affect the global chemical industry and its client industries in Groups. These are a feature of our software that enables us to have conversations
