NEW YORK CITY (ICIS)–Dow Chemical has ramped up production at the new propylene oxide (PO) facility in Thailand to stable production levels in preparation for a full-capacity run for the fourth quarter, the company said on Tuesday.

Once fully operational, the world-scale plant will have a capacity of 390,000 tonnes/year, via the hydrogen peroxide to propylene oxide (HPPO) technology jointly developed by Dow and BASF, the company said.

The plant is in the Asia Industrial Estates site near Map Ta Phut, Thailand. The plant is a joint venture (JV) between Dow and SCG, a Thai conglomerate made up of five core businesses – chemicals, paper, cement, building materials and distribution.
