CHONGQING (ICIS)--China’s Sinopec Mitsubishi Polycarbonate (SMP) plans to restart is polycarbonate (PC) plant at Yanshan in Beijing by the end of April, a company source said on Friday.
SMP runs two (PC) units, each with a 30,000 tonnes/year capacity.
The No 1 PC line was taken off line in late October 2012, while the No 2 line has been idle since early December last year, because of weak demand and unfavourable margins.
“We are targeting to resume operations by the end of April,” a company source said on the sidelines of the 10th China Epoxy Resins & Raw Materials Forum, held in Chongqing, China, on 21-22 March 2013.
The company is a joint venture between Chinese major Sinopec, and Japan’s Mitsubishi Chemical and Mitsubishi Engineering Plastics.
