US CP Chem receives air permits for cracker, PE plantHOUSTON (ICIS)–Chevron Phillips Chemical has received air permits from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) for its ethane cracker and two polyethylene (PE) units, the company said on Tuesday.

Final board approval for the project will be sought later this year, Chevron Phillips Chemical said.

The ethane cracker will have a capacity of 1.5m tonnes/year, and each PE unit will have a capacity of 500,000 tonnes/year, the company said. They will be built near the company’s Sweeny complex in Old Ocean, Texas.

The project should be completed in 2017, the company said.

Earlier this year, the company received a greenhouse-gas permit for the cracker from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
