LONDON (ICIS)--December prices for European butyl acetate (butac) have been assessed down €10/tonne on the low end this week as the effects of the seasonal slowdown overrode those of a €30/tonne ($41/tonne) rise in the December contract price of feedstock propylene, sources said on Friday.
“Butac trades around €1,020/tonne but demand is awful,” a producer said.
A distributor also spoke of poor demand, and of December prices at €1,020-1,080 FD (free delivered) NWE (northwest Europe).
However, a second producer has tailored its production to match the reduced requirements for butac. It cites spot prices as steady and at a relatively high level of €1,100-1,120/tonne FD.
