SINGAPORE (ICIS)--South Korea's Hyundai Cosmo Petrochemical (HCP) kept its No 2 aromatics unit in Daesan shut as it continued to conduct technical checks, a company source said on Tuesday.

The unit, with a nameplate capacity 120,000 tonnes/year of benzene and 800,000 tonnes/year of paraxylene (PX), was shut on 11 December because of unspecified technical problems, the company source said.

“We will have a clearer idea next week as to when the plant will restart,” the source added.
